Additional Information: We at Western Colorado University are stoked to invite athletes from across Colorado to The
Annual G-Town Showdown, a full weekend of bouldering and top roping/leading! Teams are
encouraged to participate in both competitions over the weekend or sign up for a single
competition. Our top rope/lead comp will run from 8a through 8p on Saturday, January 24th
followed by our bouldering comp running from 7a through 7p on Sunday, January 25th. We will
run up to four heats each day if registration numbers deem necessary; heats will be
approximately 3 hours each Overnight Accommodation:
As a university climbing gym, we have the unique ability to offer overnight accommodations in
our Mountaineer Field House included in the price of registration. Athletes and coaches are
invited to sleep in the field house/indoor track space within the facility. We require all
individuals utilizing these overnight accommodations to bring their own sleeping gear (sleeping
bag, sleeping pad, pillow – think ‘camping gear’). Track and Field will have a track meet all
day Saturday 1/24; we will not have access to the Indoor Track until their meet ends at 7pm.
All overnight bags will be secured in Activity Room 3. Dinner will be provided on Saturday
night, and breakfast will be provided on Sunday morning for all individuals choosing to sleep in
the facility. Snacks will also be provided through both competitions. Paying climbers will have
first dibs on food. Restrictions:
All belayers are required to pass the MFH belay certification. All lead climbers/lead belayers are
required to pass the MFH lead certification. Any coaches who have passed belay tests in previous
years will be able to belay without re-testing. If you are not certified and would like to belay,
please arrive 30 minutes early so that we can certify you. Space is limited at our gym; if you plan
to bring a team larger than 30 athletes, please email hapolloni@western.edu to confirm we have space.
