Are you ready
to Climb the League?

To compete at ASCL events each climber must register for the League and pay for an annual membership to the ASCL. The cost for the 2023-2024 season is $100.

PLEASE NOTE: The ASCL annual membership fee is separate from the fees charged by the Host Gym for each competition as well as any fees collected by a school club/team.

Middle School vs High School

The ASCL Middle School Division is for climbers in grades 6-8 regardless of the school grade label

  • Uncommon Example #1: A 5th grade climber at a middle school with grades 5-8 enrolled is not eligible to compete in the ASCL in the Middle School Division
  • Uncommon Example #2: A 6th grade climber at an elementary school with grades K-6 enrolled is eligible to compete in the ASCL in the Middle School Division
  • Uncommon Example #3: An 8th grade climber at a Jr. High School is eligible to compete in the ASCL in the Middle School Division

The ASCL High School Division is for climbers in grades 9-12 regardless of school grade label

  • Uncommon Example: A 9th grader who attends a Jr. High School with grades 8-9 enrolled is eligible to compete in the ASCL in the High School Division. This climber must do one of the following:
  1. Register for the high school they will attend next year based upon their local enrollment area, OR
  2. Register as “Unattached” to compete as an individual only and not on a high school team

Important School Affiliation Information

  1. Climbers who attend a school with a physical location must register for that school team or be assigned as “Unattached”.
  2. Climbers who are home schooled or attend an online-only school must register for the school that they would attend based upon enrollment area boundaries or be assigned as “Unattached”.
  3. Climbers may also choose to be assigned as “Unattached” if they do not wish to compete for their school team.
  4. Consolidated/conglomerate/gym teams are not allowed.

To be assigned as “Unattached”, during registration select “OTHER” in the school dropdown menu and type “Unattached” in the Other School field.

In addition, if a school has notified the ASCL a climber should be excluded from the school team according to school rules as a result of disciplinary action, the climber will be re-assigned to “Unattached”.

If your school is not in the registration drop-down menu of available schools, register for “OTHER” and enter the name of your school when prompted.

Wait… what do I get for my $100?

In short… without your $100 fee, the ASCL would not be able to operate and your climber would not have an opportunity to compete for their school as an individual or team.
