The American Scholastic Climbing League began as the Colorado High School Climbing League in 2008. In 2018 the ASCL was officially formed as a non-profit organization with the goal of expanding outside of Colorado. Ohio was added to the League in 2023. Arkansas, Oregon, and Tennessee are planned expansion states in 2024.
