Additional Information: IMPORTANT!! Soco Comp #2 has been rescheduled to Sunday Nov. 10th! Same time. Doors open at 7:30. Top Rope and Lead Belay: All top rope and lead belayers must have a CityROCK certification. We are asking all coaches and parents who cannot come in beforehand and who need to be belay certified to please be here at 7:30 to take the belay tests. We will stop conducting belay tests at 8:40. We will not be certifying ASCL competitors at any time on the day of the event. ASCL competitors, who are not currently belay certified at CityROCK, should come in to test before the day-of. Lead Climbing: Please get on the CityROCK web site and fill out our lead form waiver beforehand. ASCL participants can lead climb without getting an official certification if a coach vouches but we will be watching and will ground anyone who we deem unsafe. The competition will start at 9:00am and go until 12:00pm. We are allowing high school students to participate without an ASCL membership but their performance will not be included in official ASCL results.

Additional Information: Registration 4:30pm Competition 5:30pm-8:30pm. Only on the competition day, Gripstone will honor other gym’s certifications for both toprope and lead. Gripstone staff reserves the right to prohibit any belayer from belaying due to unsafe conduct. All competitors who will be belaying (both Toprope and Lead) are required to belay using Assisted Braking Devices (ABDs).

Additional Information: Belay and Lead Climbing Test: All participants & coaches who want to belay are required to take and pass our belay test. Belayers and lead climbers are encouraged to come in prior to the competition to take the belay test – getting certified can even be done at ÜG Denver. There is no cost for getting certified early. Availability of belay tests on the day of the competition are not guaranteed, and will cost $5. Lead tests must be done with a partner. Belayers under 14 years old: MUST take and pass three belay tests on three separate days to become fully belay certified in our facility. Belayers who pass a belay test on the day of the competition will be provisionally passed for the day and allowed to belay their peers with a belay-certified individual providing a backup belay. They will not be fully certified until they pass the rest of their tests. All lead belayers and climbers must fill out this Lead Policy Agreement and arrive with a partner to take your test. Assisted-Braking Belay Devices: Participants must use an assisted-braking belay device including Petzl GriGri, Edelrid Jul, Mammut Smart, BD Pilot, Trango Vergo or Cinch. Tube style belay devices (ATC) are not allowed at ÜG. Please bring your own devices. They may have some for rent for $4, but if they are all rented and none are available the day of the competition, they do have many different choices for you to choose from to purchase from our retail shop.
