The League’s intention is to foster the best aspects of climbing in middle and high school students. It is an opportunity to connect all the middle and high school climbers in the state in an atmosphere of positive competition. The point is to be inclusive and emphasize community, perseverance, trust, and support. The League is not about winning or preparing individual students for the Olympics. It is about individuals and teams specifically connected to their middle and high schools working together to support student growth, camaraderie, and healthy connection with other students also embracing the sport. The point is to help students be their best selves while climbing. It is the climbers against the routes on the wall, not climbers trying to beat each other. Please help us keep the sport and the League fun, healthy, and positive.

Our Mission is to…

  • Encourage well-rounded climbers disciplined in both bouldering problems and roped climbs.
  • Support all states, regions, schools and individuals trying to develop middle and high school level climbing.
  • Limit the bureaucracy and simplify the rules as much as possible.
  • Expand each Region by having climbers compete in regular season competitions at different sites.  This allows athletes from each Region to experience different route setting styles, traveling to other gyms and getting the experience of having a home gym vs. visitor gym like any other school athletic team.
  • Keep the cost reasonable.  While covering costs of the hosting gyms and the League, realizing that these comps are a service to the community versus deterring athletes because of high entry fees.
  • Hold comps on the honor system of each athlete.  Climbers will verify each other without the use of judges.
  • Hold High School State Championship events that are limited to the best climbers in the state as well as offer an opportunity for developing climbers to climb the Championship routes (Varsity vs. JV waves)
  • Have a national final limited to the best climbers in the country.
