QUALIFICATIONS:
• Independent Contractor of the ASCL
• Previous experience within the ASCL as a Head Coach.
• Knowledge of operation and philosophies of the ASCL.
• Ability to organize and supervise a large local region within their living location.
• Substantial knowledge and experience in climbing related skills and industry standards. Familiarity with new theories and procedures pertinent to climbing related field experiences.
• Valid training in CPR, First Aid
• Passes the required background check
REPORTS TO:
• The Executive Director who provides overall objectives and evaluation of the League.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
• Advise, coordinate and support a staff of Coaches and Volunteers within their Region, IT Specialists, Legal Departments, Accountants, Committees, Retail, Public Relations and Contract employees.
JOB GOAL:
• Provide overall leadership and coordination among various events. Facilitate a program that provides worthwhile learning experiences for the promotion of self-esteem in young adults.
• Instruct staff in the fundamental skills necessary to safely enjoy the sport of climbing. Reinforce behaviors reflecting integrity, self-confidence, mutual support, acceptable social behavior and self-discipline in members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Have a thorough knowledge of all activity policies approved by the League’s administrative team.
• Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques taught by the staff. Design clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of program goals and philosophies.
• Delegate specific duties. Supervise implementation and analyze staff effectiveness. Facilitate and participate in staff evaluations
• Provide staff with documentation to fulfill insurance requirements concerning parent consent, emergency information, risk management, and permission forms.
• Provide guidelines for collaboration with local climbing gym facilities.
• Facilitate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical emergencies and accident response plan. Update the risk management program as needed. Distribute guidelines, policies and procedures to all staff.
• Facilitate accountability for all fees and scholarships.
• Maintain a handbook of policies and guidelines governing the ASCL.
• Act as liaison.
• Communicate and connect with all staff.
• Oversee all staff development, training and evaluation.
• Maintain tradition, mission statement and quality of program.
• Facilitate the execution of all coaching, volunteers and contract employee duties.
