DEVELOP
- a sense of physical well-being.

PROVIDE
- opportunities for individuals to strengthen their self-concept.
- a vehicle for students to participate in worthwhile service projects.
- leadership training for those student-athletes who wish to pursue career opportunities in climbing related fields.
- a safe environment for participation in climbing activities.
TEACH
- others how to use the environment while utilizing minimum impact techniques.
- current belay technique and climbing movement to the safest industry standards.
- proper equipment use and care.
- consistent language for climbers, belayers and coaches used League-wide and will transfer to other indoor climbing facilities and outdoor climbing environments.
OFFER
- a variety of indoor climbing competitions which meet the needs of the student-athletes.
The following are basic components of the methods through which the above objectives can be achieved.
- Skills Training: developing those skills that enable an individual to function with competence and safety in a particular indoor climbing environment, e.g., basic to advanced climbing skills, rope management skills, leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Challenge: exposing the student to challenging experiences which encourage them to examine their own reactions and responses in new situations requiring action or decision: e.g. climbing movement, belay technique, peer coaching, etc.
- Problem Solving: providing opportunities where individuals or groups need to analyze situations and arrive at solutions: e.g. route reading, individual and team strategy, etc.
- Service: developing a sense of responsibility for others and for the environment through service projects.
